Generate a PDF or Word document from a project or a baseline – with the built-in or your own LaTeX template.

As of 9 October 2026 · checked against Wiestigo Mirador 0.1.0

Mirador turns a project into a document, structured like the tree in the directory: as PDF – built to PDF/A-2b for archiving, if you wish – and as an editable Word document (DOCX). The view for this is called Reports.

Generate a document

In the Reports tab, choose Generate document. The dialog asks for:

Fieldmeaning
Folderwhich folders go into the document. Without a choice, the whole specification becomes the document. Per folder you choose Continuous text or a table (one row per element) with its own columns.
Statethe Current state (marked as a draft) or a baseline
Document languageGerman or English
Filter (scope)all elements of the scope, the filter currently active in the directory, or a saved filter
Variantthe whole project or only what applies in a valid variant – optionally with the features per element
Templatethe Reference template (built-in) or one of your own
FormatsPDF, Word (DOCX) or both; plus PDF/A-2b (archival); validating the files with a checker is still to come
Liststable of contents (with depth), list of figures and list of tables
Annexeslist attachments only, list and embed them, or leave them out

Further switches add an attribute table, the content per element type, the origin per element (revision, last change, external key) and chapter numbers. Under Document details you enter title, subtitle, document number, version, owner, status and classification.

Generate closes the dialog; the document is created in the background.

The list of jobs

Every job appears in the list with its state and status: Queued, Running, Ready, Failed or Cancelled. When it is ready, Mirador says so; there is one download button per format.

  • You see your own jobs, an administrator sees all.
  • Generated documents remain available for 7 days, then they are removed. Your operations team can change this period.
  • A document covers up to 5,000 elements.

Your own templates

The look of the PDF is defined by a LaTeX template. A reference template is built in; your own are uploaded in the administration, in the Document Templates section.

  • Tool-wide (all projects) templates are uploaded by the administrator, templates for One specification also by its project administrator.
  • The template comes as a ZIP. Upload and check checks its structure and placeholders, rejects dangerous commands and typesets a test document as PDF/A and DOCX. If that fails, Mirador names file and line and does not store the template.
  • Every new upload becomes a new version. A template can be activated, deactivated and made the default.
  • The Reference template (ZIP) can be downloaded – the best starting point for your own.

The Word document is not created from LaTeX. Its look comes from an optional style template (reference.docx) inside the template.
